Wish I didn’t need insurance but since I do … - AIG - American International Group - Auto
31 July 2008I am not your typical car owner. I own two Chevrolet Camaro’s - a 1997 Z28 and a 1969 Rally Sport (my pride and joy). So - when looking for affordable car insurance, you can imagine I had to shop around.
My old insurer was Mercury Insurance. In general, there rates were reasonable. I was paying about $1600 a year for insurance with them. My problem with Mercury was the service. When I had a little fender bender, I had to go through the usual hell of documenting the accident, getting three repair quotes - etc etc etc. I also had to sit on the phone for what seemed like days waiting for a person to answer my questions.

31 July 2008In December 2000 I purchased a Pet Care Plus health savings plan for my 10 year old cat. Currently, she’s in good health and the only reason I purchased it was because she’s older. I wanted to make sure I could afford to take care of her should she come down with something serious. However, I just checked the Pet Care Plus website and as of 02/12/01 they no longer accept pets who are over 9 years old (pets born before 01/01/92.) So I’m glad I got the coverage when I did. I wouldn’t be able to get it now.

31 July 2008
My parents began their policy with Allstate about 20 years ago. They have always paid their auto and house bills on time.
Not once in the past did they have a car accident to where they needed to assistance of their ’so called’ insurance company.
Great Service - Allstate - Auto
31 July 2008I wanted to start this off by saying that I do not have Allstate Ins. However, last year I was rear ended by one of their insured’s and was extremely happy with their claims process. All I had to do was call them 1 time to set an appointment. The claim handler looked at my car, gave me a quote and I drove it to the body shop. My car was fixed in a day, it also happened that it was more than Allstate’s original quote, over $100 more to be exact which, because it was after the fact, I reluctantly paid and was going to call Allstate the next day to complain. But forgetful Sue that I am, I forgot. Anyway, about 2 days later I got a check in the mail in the EXACT amount of the difference. All I can say is WOW!!!

31 July 2008I have to say, I never expected a "nice" insurance company. It’s true…you should always expect the unexpected. Allstate was the unexpected.
On September 1, 2000, my car was broken into. The CD player, cell phone, checks, purse, spare key, and other items were stolen. Of course, the window was smashed, and the tint gone. And the thief left blood in the car. After filling out the police report, I called my agent to report it. He gave me a claim number, and told me that if I got lost in the fray of automobile claims, to give him a call, and he’d help me out.

31 July 2008
Ok, Ok, I’ll admit. I should have shopped around before purchasing car insurance. But I was in a hurry. The car lot was closing soon, and I had no ride home. The car lot had recomended Nationwide Insurance Co., and since they hooked me up with a good deal on my Buick, I went ahead and trusted them. Besides, all I needed was liability insurance, how bad could it be?
When I called them up to start a new insurance policy, I just about went into shock when they told me how much it would cost- $211.08 a month! For liability! Now, my driving record is far from clean, but since my last ticket or driving incident, I’ve joined the military and setteled down a bit (If I get in an accident, I’ve got my chain of command to deal with). But still, two hundred eleven dollars?! And when I asked if they could possibly give me a cheaper rate, the insurance company representative on the phone started giving me an attitude! (”I’ll hang up and you can try to find a better rate somewhere else… No, I can do that… Are you sure?” - his exact words) That should have been my que to hold off on buying the car, and shop around for insurance. But, like I said, I was in a hurry.
Better than any other I’ve used - Farmers Insurance - Auto
31 July 2008Farmers insurance company is by far the best insurance company I’ve ever had dealings with. I’ve had policies with four other companies over the years and for one reason or another I was not satisfied with the service. With Farmers I can get in contact with my agent when I need to without feeling like I’m in a circus. Their rates are by far less than many other companies I inquired about when looking. For me they are easier to work with and seem to take a more personal approach. I have auto and renters insurance with them, which means they give me a discount for multiple policies.(Every little penny helps.) If there is a problem with my account they contact me by phone immediately, as well as by mail, so it can be resolved as soon as possible. From my experience dealing with Farmers, I will not be changing companies anytime in the near future.

31 July 2008I have been a Farmers customer for over four years and have had very good service……..the agents know me by my name and treat me with respect and dignity even when there are claims.
I would highly recommend them to anyone as they look at a customers history and bend their own rules to be beneficial to the customer…
They also suggested ways to reduce premium unlike the others whom I had dealt with before who wanted to fleece me.

31 July 2008Since there’s not a category for mobile home insurance or mobile homes listed this is the closest I can find. Last year we purchased a new single wide mobile home. We knew that living on the coast would make our insurance higher than other places but not this high! I contacted Farmer’s Insurance in Oct ‘99 about getting a policy from them. WOW they had a great policy but with our busy lives I forgot to follow through. Now I WISH I had! They have changed their policy writing procedures and of course they can’t find our quote and we’re going to be stuck paying $1500 a year for insurance. AND this policy isn’t anywhere near as good as the one they quoted me. It does beat the $2200 cost of our existing policy.

31 July 2008Having grown up in a home that only used GEICO for its auto insurance (well, as far as I’ve known my family always used GEICO), I believed they were the best and that they had the best rates. I was wrong. Progressive beats the pants off of GEICO
After I got married, I stayed with GEICO. However, the longer my wife and I stayed with GEICO, a funny thing kept happening: our rates continued to get higher and higher.
Finally, we had enough. We were having to pay $950 for SIX months with GEICO and that’s with neither of having been in an accident and with neither of us having received a ticket.
