This "epinion" isn’t about AAA insurance, it’s about AAA, the Auto Club. Now, I’m sure that everyone has heard about AAA, but maybe not everyone knows all the benefits and advantages of being a member.

THE BENEFITS*
1. Emergency Road Service: If you’ve got a flat tire, ran out of gas, have a stalled car, or even locked out, you can call 1-800-AAA-HELP for help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can even call if you’re just the passenger of that car.
2. Insurance: Obviously AAA offers car insurance, but did you know that they offer homeowners, renters, and personal umbrella insurances as well?
3. Auto Services: There are several auto services that AAA offers:
A. Auto Diagnostic Clinics/Vans - You can get up to 100 tests performed on your car at a reduced rate as compared to non-members.
B. AAA Approved Auto Repair Facilities - You can find a AAA approved auto repair facility that has met certain standards, and all work done on your car (for AAA members only) is guaranteed for 12 months or 12,000 miles.
C. Vehicle Pricing Service - This service helps you to make sure that you aren’t being ripped off when buying a new car. This service will inform you of the following:
- Manufacturer’s dealer invoice
- MSRP
- Manufacturer’s dealer invoice & MSRP for the options
- Facts on repair and ownership costs
- Warranty information
- Crash Test Data
D. Vehicle Purchasing Service - There are hundreds of dealers in Northern California, Utah, and Nevada that offer no hassle, no haggle service with pre-arranged discount prices for AAA members.
4. Travel Services: AAA offers a full-service travel agency for your travelling needs. So you can book that next vacation with AAA with ease.
Also, if you we’re going on a road trip, AAA can help you plan it all out with hundreds of maps, tourbooks, Triptik routings, and etc. (I personally have received at least 50+ maps and tourbooks for both personal and business use which would’ve cost $2.95/each for the maps and $12.95/each for the tourbooks for non-members.)
And what about traveler’s cheques? Well, you can get FEE-FREE American Express Traveler’s Cheques from your local AAA office. Or what if you wanted to cash a personal check? Well, go to any local AAA office, and they can cash a check for you up to $100!
In addition, I’m sure you’ve heard of people asking for a AAA discount for rental cars, hotels, and etc. Yep, in Northern California, Nevada, Utah alone there are over 900 places (hotels, attractions, rental car companies, resturants, and shops) that offer AAA discounts. (We used AAA to get a discount at the Doral Palm Springs Resort just recently which saved us 20% on the room rates!)
5. Other benefits: Some of the other benefits include the following:
A. Membership to the bi-monthly Via Magazine that provides you information on membership benefits and information on travelling throughout the West and the world.
B. Limited Personal Accident Insurance Policy: This no-additional cost benefit (to members) offers you $2,500 in the event of an accidental death or $2,000 for accidental dismemberment.
C. Credit Card Key: Have you left your keys in your car and been locked out before? Well, with a free (plastic) credit card key, that can fit in your wallet, you can save a call to the AAA Emergency Road Service or local locksmith.

The Price of Membership
The current price of CSAA membership is $46/per year for the primary member with a one-time enrollment fee of $17. Associate memberships are available at $24/per year per associate member.
