I have had Allstate for years beginning from when I “inherited” my mother’s homeowners and auto coverage. Here in Texas, the whole mold thing resulted in Allstate setting unrealistic demands to renew my homeowners coverage and in my losing my coverage (they wanted us to replace *all* the electrical wiring and pipes in our house because it was over 20 years old!). I kept the auto coverage, but that has become a joke recently.
Earlier this year, my brother in law borrowed my car and had a wreck. I was not there at the accident and had nothing to offer anybody in the way of evidence, but that didn’t stop the Allstate adjuster from harassing me and my wife non-stop for weeks! They called on the weekends early in the morning to wake us up. We told them how to contact my brother-in-law… so whenever they couldn’t reach him, they called us demanding to know why. I got harassing calls from an adjuster at my work in a threatening tone…very loud and rude…demanding that my brother-in-law (I am apparently my brother-in-law’s keeper) call him immediately or they would reject the other driver’s claim and make us pay him ourselves. We then tried to make changes to our policy and now they are hitting us with surveys to see how far we drive in our cars…reminding us that if we let non-covered drivers handle our vehicles that we are committing fraud and our policy can be canceled…
I am dropping their coverage this month. I would rather pay more at another company and not have to deal with some company that: A)Doesn’t want my business anyway and B)Is ready to drop me (or at least make my life hell) whenever something goes wrong or a claim is filed and C)Has customer service people trained by Bobby Knight and the Marquis De Sade. They lied to us when they told us that our rates would not go up because we ourselves were not filing a repair claim with them…but they did…they say they will make sure corrections are make to their policies and then they never do make the changes… they sneak off every possible discount for security systems, etched glass, defensive driving, etc every time it is time to renew the policy (they make you prove you are still entitled to those discounts).
A really crappy company…One of the big 3 in Texas and just as bad as the other two. Steer clear of these crooks because they will drop you when you fall!
