I happen to be looking through the opinions on Allstate and it made me
think of an incident that happen to me about 4 years ago with this
company.I was at work on a Saturday and my wife called to say my main
water line in to my finished basement broke.We had just changed our auto
coverage to Allstate and we were told if we changed our homeowners with
our auto we would get a better rate,sounds good.When we made the change we
took a copy of our old homeowners policy to the agent and said we would
like the same coverage.To make a long story short when I called the
claims office Monday I was told I was not covered.Luckily I had a copy of
my old policy from my previous company which showed I would have been
covered for this incident.A good friend of mine who deals in insurance
told me that what had happened was wrong and I should look in to getting
things taken care of.It took some doing but I finally got the situation
straightened out.I think the worse part about the whole thing is that my
Father-in-law and wife worked hard that day getting many items out of
harms way and basically the only damage was to the carpet,panel and a
small cabinet.When the gentleman came to look at the damage he acted like
the money was coming out of his pocket,so I had a few words with him.I
guess you have figured by now that I no longer have Allstate Insurance and
I realized how you have to watch any changes that are made when it comes
to any type of coverage whether it is auto or homeowners.I was not in
good hands with Allstate.
