I have been an allstate customer for 1 year after moving to a new state where my old (very wonderful) insurance company does not opperate.

Since being with allstate I have consistantly had to go out of my way to speak to customer service at both the local agent and national call center levels.

The most recent issue came about when I paid my 6 month premium off completely. At the same time I had switched banks, all but effectively closing the account (no money in the account).

all of a sudden I am being called from the bank as they are covering things posting to my checking account with no funds in the bank. Reason? allstate continued to take money out of my bank as a direct bill pay. You would think their computer system would be up to date enough to realize I had paid, but no. I call them up, guess what refunds take one billing period to post. So I wait for that, suck up the cost of my bank’s charges for covering those pay outs. I tell allstate to take my checking account off of direct bill withdrawl and sit back thinking everying is fine, then the next month comes along and they final figure out that my move to a new zip code 2 months prior will increase my bill by $15/month, so what do they do? Bill me? warn me of the increase? NO - they just take the money out of my account again! no warning nothing, after i had specifically said take my checking account off the account, so let the problems begin again.

Who the heck do they have working for them? what kind of computer system do they use, one that on average takes months to process customer requests? this is ridiculous!!! be very careful when signing up for direct payment, they will take advantage!
