I have had Cigna HMO as my medical insurance for several years. I had no choice but to take Cigna because it was all that my employer offered. I have a chronic medical condition that requires daily medication so when I first got Cigna I signed up for medication by mail. Bad Choice–Cigna owns a mail order pharmacy called Tel-Drug, they make you a deal that you will get 3 months of medication for 2 copays. Sounds good doesn’t it? I thought so until I couldn’t get them to ship my pills in a timely manner. I sent a prescription in to them and it took 3 weeks to get them to admit to having the prescription, they had it 3 days after I mailed it. I was out of medication for 10 days before I finally got a shipment from Tel-Drug. I called repeatedly only to be given a different story by every customer service rep I spoke to. The final straw was when Tel-Drug sent me the wrong medication. I called and spoke to a Pharmacist who argued with me, told me I must be mistaken, I didn’t know what I was talking about and I should not worry about it because he was a “Medical person”. I too am a “Medical person”, I am a Registered Nurse who knows her medication very well. The Pharmacist finally admitted that what I had been shipped was the wrong medication but it was “Pretty close” to what the prescription called for. Pretty close just didn’t quite cut it for me.
Since then I pick up my medication at a local pharmacy.I have to pay more for the medication but it is well worth it.
I have discovered that poor customer service runs rampant in Cigna. Every time I call about an issue I get a different answer from a rep, I never know quite what to believe.
The bottom line? Cigna is barely okay, if I had a choice I wouldn’t have Cigna.
