My father has had Farmers Insurance for 50 years and I followed. I tried Prudential for a few years and found it to have good service but when I price-compared, Farmers was lower. I’ve been with Farmers again for three years and continue to price check others, especially those advertised on the radio, such as Geico, and brokers that carry many brands. They claim to be able to search and get you lower rates.
In fact, I have made direct comparisons. I am an engineer and have been careful to be fair. Every time I have compared, I fully expect the new insurance broker to be less expensive. I am even prepared to accept less service to save a little money, including mail-order, Internet, or others that have no agent to directly service the account. Again and again I am surpised. I have been insured with Farmers with two teenaged sons. I have had claims that have been paid immediately with the agent’s help. Car insurance is, by nature, expensive, but Farmers is always the least cost.
Every time I have compared, FARMERS IS LESS EXPENSIVE. They beat the little guys and the big guys. They beat the call-ins and the mail-ins. In some cases they have been only a few dollars less, but they ARE LESS and they have the advantage of a personal agent and widespread net of adjusters in case of trouble.
