I will cut to the chase on this insurance. I insured a 1989 Mercedes 190E 2.6 and a 1970 4 wheel drive International Scout 800. I am divorced, 41, with no kids, or anything bad on my driving record. My insurance cost per month is about 100.00 on both vehicles and that includes the 24 hr roadside service package purchased with the policy. The Scout has 0.00 dollars deductible and I think the Mercedes has 50.00 deductible. I have not had a claim on the Mercedes, but I have on the Scout. I have been towed 4 times and have had the service send a tire man out to plug a tire. One tow actually involved a flatbed 4wd coming 2 miles cross country and creek.I broke a rear shackle and GEICO paid for the repair and the tow. I was in the-middle-of-nowhere-Nebraska at the time and there was no wrecker service available within 75 miles. They paid for a flat bed tow truck to come from Omaha to pick up the truck and take it back to Omaha for repairs. The tow bill alone was 250.00! I don’t know what everybody else thinks of this company, but they made a believer out of me. The only thing that even came close to a problem was that it took the independent adjuster a couple of days to get around to inspecting the vehicle and he was sort of snappy with my mechanic. They did not raise my rates or anything. I have had several insurance companies over the years and GEICO is the least inexpensive with the best service I have found. I will probably have to up my coverage on the Scout because I have made improvements that have increased its value. One word of advice for State Farm customers: If you are ever in an accident, make sure it is not your fault. Otherwise you are screwed. They raise your rates at best or chunk you out on your keister as a matter of policy. I purchased SF once simply because I was tired of getting screwed by the company when I was hit by one of their customers. If you are insured by them and someone else with different insurance hits you and it is their fault, you are usually alright. DO NOT GET HIT BY SOMEONE WITH STATE FARM IF YOU CAN HELP IT! Stay far away from cars with the State Farm Sticker on the back!
