Note: I said WAS. My family has always had State Farm insurance policies, for their homes, cars and fire protection. So when I finally came to the age where I chose my car insurance it was just natural, plus I got a great discount for the multiple policies. Now, it is true that I had 4 great years of hassle free insurance. I paid my premiums on time although the rates were more than some of my friends were paying. But I just chocked it up to my young age and "high risk" factor. But come my one accident, and that all changed. My rates obviously went up, even though the company didn’t have to pay that much out of pocket to the other car owner. On my small income, and with no help from my parents, I missed one month’s premium. Soon, I received notices that my policy would become void in three weeks of a certain date. Just like that. It was a shock, and my first notion was to call the company and just explain and everything would be O.K. But then I started talking to people and have decided to change to another company. State Farm carries a great name, but the people aren’t always the most courteous, and your agent is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with after "office hours" (9-5). I truly regreted going against the grain with my family tradition, but I finally wised up. I guess all those college classes do pay off.
