I have always thought of myself as being able to find a deal, so when I called AIG (after receiving a price quote in the mail) and talking to the individual for about an hour I came to the conclusion that this was a deal I couldn’t pass up. The price was low, the coverage was wonderful, and the man on the other side of the phone assured me that AIG was rated A+++++ in customer service. They must have rated themselves because having AIG be my insurance company has been the worse thing that has ever happened. A few weeks ago my parked car got hit by a drunk driver who was to drunk to locate her insurance information, but a police report was made and AIG had some of her information. Rather then defending me and protecting me, as an insurance company is suppose to do, AIG tried to tell me that they couldn’t pay me because they didn’t know if this individual had insurance. I reminded them that I had bought the uninsured motorist coverage and it shouldn’t matter. After WEEKS AND WEEKS of fighting I was finally able to get the correct price for my car. It was the worse experience of my life and they handled everything miserably. There is so much more to this story but typing it would result in a million word essay, which isn’t necessary.
