In May of 1999 my husband had an auto accident. We were insured with Geico at the time. We did what we were supposed to by calling and reporting the accident. From there on it was pure aggravation. The car was demolished so we could not drive it any where. Geico would not send an appraiser out to look at the damage. We had to have the car towed over 50 miles away. I could not believe it. Why insure in a city where you are not going to send an agent? We are stationed in a small town in Maryland. After the car was towed, it took weeks to get an appraisal amount. I was so aggravated and after many phone calls got no where. It took over a month to get the pay off from them too. I was highly upset because when I got the pay off it was not even a pay off. For all the time Geico spent sitting around the interest grew and grew. I called and got no where with them. Then after all the trouble they put us through, they lifted my insurance an unbelievable amount. Yes, the accident was my husbands fault, but does it give Geico the right to not want to help us? No! I am now paying less insurance and have a much better carrier. I will never go with Geico again.
