Allstate offered competitive rates at first. The second year, it went up by 80%. Claim processing took a lot less time that I expected. It took a long time to get connected to a representative through their 800-number for both claim issues and/or auto-club service center.
Allstate offered several discount programs, at which most of them are common to any other insurance companies anyway, such as; multiple policies, multiple cars, good driver’s, and so on. They had a slightly different offer where Allstate would lower your premium at the age of 24, instead of 25.
Another down-side for Allstate, they require you to call their Auto Club 800-number to get to a local garage. It took a long time to go through the selections and get to a representative. Then, after you get to a representative, you still have to wait until the local garage that Allstate calls would call you back and find out all the information about your location and the kind of car you are driving to identify you. Then, you wait again until their tow truck comes.
