I have been a USAA member for over 20 years. This past December, I filed a claim for an accident that was my fault. I took my vehicle to the USAA recommended body shop and my vehicle still isn’t right (March 2007. While the direct service from USAA has been sufficient, I found there to be an appalling lack of oversight regarding their relationship with the repair shop in Edmond, OK. I have had my vehicle in on THREE separate occasions, I was charged for equipment and labor that was not completed, a serious problem was overlooked from the accident that resulted in a fire on my vehicle and they were not even able to hang my bumper straight given multiple tries. The response from USAA has been tepid at best. In total, dealing with the USAA recommended shop has cost me at least $1000 over what the repairs cost, I still don’t have a properly repaired vehicle and USAA was only able to recoup $250 for me. Whereas I have always trusted USAA completely, I don’t believe that trust is warranted anymore. I am presently considering new, less expensive insurance (pending a response to my certified letter to the CEO).
