I know that the cost of VPI is high, but I wish we had it before
my dog broke her leg. We paid out of pocket because the cost
of the surgery over the years she will most likely live turns
out to be minimal. The best part of VPI is the preventive
care rider, I easily receive claim checks that total more than
the premium I pay ($99/year). And all of the preventive steps
I take would happen whether or not I had the rider. We did
recently switch to the Gold Plan, although they are very pushy
about the Plus Plan. But some coverage is better than no
coverage, and I can pay out of pocket the difference in cost
if it becomes necessary.
