Insurance debates … gotta love them,

I’m a pretty simple man, and I should point out fairly lazy. I don’t want to spend my time seeking cost savings of a few dollars per year even with techno wizadry at my fingertips. More important to me is customer service. Give me a nice, happy, "I’m working on your behalf" type of attitude and I am a customer.

Having said all that I do believe I first joined GEICO after moving to MD form NJ in 1995 because of the savings (hey it was the "new beginning" days).

I have since found them reliable, responsive enough when I have needed them, and a standout in the area of customer service.

The reason I make these statements are a few good experiences, which is what this stuff is all about anyway:

Little Extras:

I recently transferred title on an older car from my name to my mother-in-laws (different state) which meant I wanted the insurance coverage dropped. Well, time went by and I snoozed on that one for 2-3 months when finally my wife took the initiative, called GEICO and explained our delay. They asked if we had a receipt with the date of our plate submission on it. I pulled it out of a folder and they credited us for the 2-3 months that we should have removed coverage.

More than just Car Insurance:

When we made the move from apartment to house we worked with GEICO to add P&C to the coverage and it was easy, painless and cost effective. The Customer Service Rep I was working with realized this was our first house and patiently walked me through the options of coverage. We used the coverage almost immediately to take care of some roof damage from a storm and the process was smooth.

Innovation:

They are, of course, moving forward with the fusion of Internet with real world and have recently started sending me e-mails about statements I can review online with the option of payments.

We’ll see about the last one … as I mentioned before, I’m the lazy type so give me a few months.
