this company sucks - never buy insurance here - American National Property & Casualty
21 July 2008I had been with this company for three years, having my home warranty from them.
In May 2007 - I had my kitchen faucet broken. This was the first time, I had them do some decent work for my home. Altough talking to people, I figured fixing faucet, isn’t a big deal but these folks certainly made it look like one.

21 July 2008Well, here I go again writing about insurance groups. You might have guessed it, my same daughter who got hit last year, at almost the same time, got hit again. Again, she got lucky and it wasn’t her fault. She does keep on wondering why everybody keeps hitting her car though. She drives a purple eclipse and she really loves that car. At least we have a good auto body place to take it to.

19 July 2008am not a client of Geico’s, instead I am a victim of one of their reckless drivers, and Geico refuses to pay for the damage their insured caused.
In January, a Geico driver ran a stop sign and pulled out in front of my car. Police arrived immediately and took down a report that clearly spelled out the facts of the incident, including the responsibility of the other driver. I had the right of way. (The other driver was ticketed). I was actually driving 5 miles UNDER the speed limit at the time of the accident, and I did all I could to avoid the impact.

2 July 2008Allstate advertises that you will be in good hands. That’s about as far from the truth as possible. If you have a claim, they will deny it and fight every step of the way.
I am a retired personal injury lawyer and I have handled hundreds of claims from all the major insurance carriers and AllState is one of the worst. I have never seen the Good Hands People settle a claim fairly. I have seen them lie and cheat to try to save a buck, but never try to treat someone fairly.

1) I called them and told them that I had been in an accident. I told them where it happened, what tow yard had the car, what body shop I wanted it taken to, and I gave them the phone number of an eye-witness. I also gave them the other driver’s info, but I did not have to because it was all contained in the police report, which they accessed through the city.

I was stupid enough to buy insurance from Geico. It was my first experience with any insurance company and of course I made the worst choice possible. I needed basic insurance and the cost didn’t seem to be high (I realized that it _was_ high later after some research 
Ordering insurance over the telephone was quite simple. I needed a temporary card and they promised to fax it to me. I did receive a fax from Geico in about 30 minutes but it wasn’t my card at all… Anyway, finally I got it. It took about a month for them to mail me my real insurance card and of course my name was misspelled. For two months I was calling their customer support almost every week to clear all of the problems. Their paper forms were extremely complex and hard to understand. Customer support people were not able to help either.

The list also gave information like policy name, AM Best rating of the company, quarterly premium, length of term etc. It was pretty easy to find the policy with the best combination of low cost and high financial rating.

12 May 2008Let me start by setting the stage - California, which has had a series of inept, corrupt politicians in charge of the Department of Insurance is, in my first amendment-protected opinion, solidly in bed with the insurance companies. Anytime you buy insurance here, it”s a given you will get a raw deal. It”s just a matter of to what degree you will be taken to the cleaners. Any kind of insurance, be it home, health, or earthquake (we even have our own corrupt state-run Earthquake Insurance Commission which overcharges just like an insurance company - go figure).
