Attention Math Majors!!! - 21st Century - Auto

6 September 2008

Here is a little known fact about 20th Century Insurance that is never publicized. The company offers good discounts for those who graduated with a math (and maybe even an engineering science) degree. I don’t know why, but when I asked a customer service rep one time, she said it might be due to the founders of the company having such a degree. I don’t know. But it didn’t matter because it saved me a few hundred dollars!!! Finally, the math degree pays off big!

Better go elsewhere - Mercury of California

28 August 2008

A friend referred me to Mercury Insurance. The moment she told me about the low rates I was ready to sign ("where’s the closest office" I asked excitedly). I had been with 20th Century Insurance for a long time, and loved it because of their hassle-free convenience, but decided to go with Mercury because of the rates.

a lot of hidden charge came after the first bill. Beware !!! - 21st Century - Auto

27 August 2008

I just got my auto insurance 3 weeks ago. I was quite happy during first 3 weeks because 21st Century gave me the cheapest quote out there. After 3 weeks i got another bill asking me to pay more and mentioned on the bill that my policy got changed. I called them up asking for the reason why ?. They said because the degree that I gave did not match what has been mentioned which is not true. I told them that i have Master degree in software engineering which is the same as what my degree said. They said Master in engineering must be from physics or aerospace in order to get those kind of discount I got. At first I’m kind of upset but try to live with it. Since I have already leave my old insurance company and don’t wanna go through all those pain of renewing it and have to pay $50 to 21st if i cancel it now but I’ll after 5 months. I also went to compare the first bill and the new bill that 21st insurance gave me. All the numbers just not making sense at all on many item i’ll pay less than the first bill but on some specific item i’ll have to pay a lot more. What I’m try to say is they made up the numbers to raise my premium. If all the numbers go up or some stay but not go down that would make more sense to me because my degree got less discount than other type (from what they said). For the price they raised if i were to know it before hand I would not have left my old insurance or else I would have gone with others it’s a lot out there which is cheaper. To people who is shopping for new insurance please take my word to your consideration go else where don’t trust 21st Century Insurance. If you would like to give them a try make sure all the number they quote you and be specific on what you say and what they say. To me I’ll have to put up with this liar for 5 more months but I’m sure I’ll leave them after that because I hate not sincere. To tell the truth I’m afraid that they will try to find other reason to raise my premium again next month and the month after.

Low Rates at the Cost of Customer Service - 21st Century - Auto

23 August 2008

21st Century has disappointed me greatly over the last few days. I have been with 21st Century Insurance for several years (both under my parent’s policy and my own as of June 1999). I have a good driving record and was paying $498 or so every 6 months, even after I had received 1 point on my record. Two months ago I cancelled my insurance since I decided to give my car to my brother who had his car totaled in an accident. Up till this point I had never had any qualms with 21st Century and I actually liked them because of their amazingly low rates.

Still waiting to see - 21st Century - Auto

11 August 2008

Just like another opinion posted here, I am quite disappointed with their response time. I am currently part of their insurance company. I had an accident that the police report, and I feel that the accident was the other party’s fault. 21st Century Insurance agrees with me. Great! Here’s the catch though. I had to get the police report. If I left it up to them to get the report, I would have had to wait 4 weeks until they got it. This is unacceptable to me. Now it’s been 2 weeks since the accident, and I don’t have any word yet on whether the other party’s insurance company will pay the bill. You would think they would hurry this along. Well, that’s why I call and try to light a fire under their …. (well you know). The claim agent I have is rude. She doesn’t want to speak with me, after every question, I get a short response, and then have to quickly ask another question or else she will say goodbye and hang up. UGGGGHHHH. Is all this par for the course in the insurance business??

My Insurance Should Be Yours - 21st Century - Home

8 August 2008

I got 21st century insurance for my home over 5 years ago. When a friend of mine mentioned to me about there low rates and special plans they offered for individuals as well as for married couples. Since I was single at the time I bought my home, I was looking for insurance on my home that met my needs. I have an older 2 story home built in the 1920’s and located here in the Ontario, CA. area just east of the earthquake zone of Los Angeles we all know. Being that my home is an older one, made of brick, finding a insurance company that won’t charge an arm and a leg for protection are few and far to come by, but when my friend suggested I check out 21st century I was skeptical.

I like them - 21st Century - Auto

30 July 2008

When I moved to California 4 years ago, I shopped for car insurance. I saw the ad for 21st Century Insurance and how it showed that they were much better than other insurance companies. I had Geico on the East Coast and was always impressed with their rates and service over the phone.

I compared Geico with 21st Century in California and found 21st to be much more affordable. I think it saved me $350 a year. I have a good driving and have only had 1 ticket in the past 5 years.

Increased Rates for the 21st Century - 21st Century - Auto

30 July 2008

Lately I have noticed more 21st Century Insurance commercials on TV. I have noticed that the 21st Century web site looks more sophisticated and user-friendly. By itself, this increased marketing is fine, but when it shows up as increased rates on my auto insurance policy, I just wish 21st Century would go back to being the low-key company I always thought it was.

21st Century Insurance are crooks! - 21st Century - Auto

27 July 2008

Like the review written by sbfoodie, I was also taken advantage of by a person who claimed there was more damage than there really was. This girl had a scuff on the clear coat, not even a scratch…my car was undamaged. She claimed bodily injury ($1700) and $550 damage to her car so my insurance went through the roof. How can you be a valued customer (with a good driver discount) for 16 years and have your insurance go from $726/6 mos to $1647/6 mos…yes folks, that is over a 225% increase. PRICE-GOUGING! Now, do the math…with that increase I would be paying $5526 more for a 3 year period when they only paid out $2250. To make matters worse, I asked this woman to please notify me if she was going to turn it into insurance because I’d rather pay it out of pocket. After she turned it in (without telling me), I asked 21st not to pay out until they advised me of the cost. They didn’t listen to me either. Now I’m stuck shopping for car insurance because I was scammed twice. A RUDE agent told me that they can no longer offer “first accident forgiveness” in California but hmmm, Allstate still offers it. LIAR! Stay away from 21st if you’re not already with them. If you are with them, be prepared to change insurance companies if you have an at-fault accident, they like to pay into FRAUDS.
