Progressive cost me alot! - Progressive Group - Auto
25 July 2008They gave me a low quote. Then, after I paid, they raised it!
I thought that kind of deception was against the law, but after I read a few of the other opinions of Progressive posted here at Epinions, I’m feeling very lucky not to have had an accident.
They only threatened to cancel my policy. They actually DID cancel other peoples policy.
Actually, that brings back memories of my experience with GEICO insurance.
They DID cancel me (They claimed I didn’t send back an information update they sent me.)

23 July 2008Safeco came through for me when some of my personal property was stolen out of the back of my truck. I went through all the standard procedures — such as reporting the theft to the police department, showing them how the break-in occured, and mailing my original receipt to Safeco — and having done that, I got a check back in reasonable time. The total theft amount was for about $2000.
I’m moving into a new place, and I’m getting Safeco insurance again.
Granted this is just one person’s opinion, but since this the first comment on Safeco Home Insurance I hope it’s useful to someone considering renter’s insurance.

17 July 2008Let me warn you that I may have a biased point of view of Safeco Insurance as I am filing a claim against them.
One evening, as I was waiting to exit a parking lot the young teenage girl in front of me backed into my car. This was a low velocity crunch, no one was injured, and my car was disfigured but drive-able. The girl’s father acknowledged that the girl was at fault and gave me their insurance info.

16 July 2008Dealing with Safeco insurance is something you must pray you never have to do. I was backed into by a Safeco customer. They were so friendly when I was contacted by their claims dept. The adjuster met with us and he was so friendly. He wrote me an estimate and a check. He explained what he had written. When I took my car to the shop to be repaired, I found out that he had written the estimate for half of what the cost to fix it was. The body shop contacted him and he argued with them about the cost. He delayed sending the supplement for 4 days. They provided me a rental. I took out the extra insurance to protect myself, at the time I was expecting 3 day for the repair. His delay with the supplement made it take 11 days for the repairs to be done. I called the claims office myself, the more people several time because it was costing me money. The more people I talked to the more company they got. I was instructed to talk with the adjusters manager. After emailing him he called me and was rude from the time I answered the phone. I have never been talked to that way by a manager in any business. He took up for his adjuster and blamed everything on the body shop. I have copies of the emails the body shop sent the adjuster. I hope and pray I never have to deal with this company again.

14 July 2008I received an interesting letter from New York State the other day. They were demanding my license plates back. It seems that I didn’t have any auto insurance in effect.
So I called GEICO, and they said that my insurance was cancelled for nonpayment. I told them that I never received a bill. They said that I did; I received a bill, a late notice, and a cancellation notice.
Of course, none of these were ever sent. I get 100% of my mail and I pay 100% of my bills. I am one guy in one house for 15 years and the mailman knows where I am. They have my correct address.

13 July 2008I guess it all started with the little green gecko on the microphone. He was promising ( or maybe misleading ) that Geico auto insurance would save everyone who called in a bunch of money. And then my family started in by saying that Geico was cheap, have to call Geico.
But then, my wife called them. It seems that the oh-so-cheap Geico insurance was actually going to cost us almost twice the amount we were already paying with another leading company. I wonder, where are all the big savings? They would actually charge over $1,000 for a six month period when all we are paying is around $600 for the same amount of time.

12 July 2008This is a great company for car insurance. I have been a customer of theirs for about 5 years now and never had one problem. The rates are wonderful and the service is absolutely incredible. I recently called Gieco Insurance because their commercials are always saying how they will save you money. Well it ended up that they wanted a whopping $300 more for a 6 month period! I couldn’t believe it I was shocked! I will never leave this insurance company……EVER!

couple of things that i wanted to clear up for you and everyone else who reads your opinion:
1). the reason why an agent would not ask you whether or not your car has an airbag, an alarm, daytime running lights, or anti lock brakes is that the correct vin number off of your car will bring that information up.
2). geico does not give any finance charges, or penalties for late payments.
3). 30 day grace period is required by STATE-*NOT GEICO* law. you have to be advised that your policy is going to be canceled, or you could sue your insurance company.
4). if you had had an accident, geico would have covered you, that is what a 30 day grace period is for.
5). if you had wanted your policy canceled, you should have called to see what was going on when you got the first notice after you had requested a cancellation.
6). also, geico would have sent you a refund for any amount that you had paid for when you had other insurance- you cannot be double insured.
7). whether or not you had re-registered your car with your geico insurance card has nothing to do with the fact that you had insurance that yes-you were paying for, and if you had an accident or needed the companies services, they would have covered you. that is what you were paying for. you agreed(signed) when you made the first payment, and again when you sent in your other checks.
8). last thing: every time you call any company for a quote, and they give you a price, you can be sure that you are getting the best rate possible. sales counselors are under a lot of pressure to make thier sales. you cannot add another discount on just because someone asks you to. every discount has to be approved by the state. saving someone $20.00 is not worth losing your job over.
Everything is a personal experience I guess… - State Farm Group - Auto
29 June 2008I’ve read all the epinions about State Farm and it intrigues me how diverse the experiences are with them. Some people hate them warning, "Don’t Go With State Farm…they WON’T be there for you.." while others talk about how State Farm gave them a warm fuzzy feeling….

29 June 2008Not to be confused with gecko, so quit calling him. The new commercials show a focus change in Geico Insurance. I think they have styled their new business model after Progressive, and their ad campaign after Sega.
