15 August 2008USAA I can say with all confidence is the greatest business I have ever dealt with. Bottom line: they are the cheapest, friendliest, and most error-free insurance company I have dealt with. I also recommend ALL their other services. I bank with them and they gave me $50, first order of checks free, and atm withdrawl rebates when I opened my account. I also took my truck loan out with them. They approved me over the phone in five minutes around 11 pm. This organization is top-notch if you can get with them. You must be a relative of a military member or a military member to join. Trust me. They are the greatest organization I have ever done business with. You will not be disappointed!

29 June 2008I first started with Progressive Insurance nearly ten years ago when I needed motorcycle insurance. The Progressive quotes were less than half the rates other companies were quoting me at that time. During that time frame, I lived in Indiana, and had my home owners insurance and automobile insurance through Progressive, as well. When I moved to South Carolina, I had to change home owners insurance because Progressive does not underwrite home owners in my current market. If they did, I would have all of my insurance products through Progressive. I still use Progressive for my automobiles and motorcycle.

26 June 2008Note: I said WAS. My family has always had State Farm insurance policies, for their homes, cars and fire protection. So when I finally came to the age where I chose my car insurance it was just natural, plus I got a great discount for the multiple policies. Now, it is true that I had 4 great years of hassle free insurance. I paid my premiums on time although the rates were more than some of my friends were paying. But I just chocked it up to my young age and "high risk" factor. But come my one accident, and that all changed. My rates obviously went up, even though the company didn’t have to pay that much out of pocket to the other car owner. On my small income, and with no help from my parents, I missed one month’s premium. Soon, I received notices that my policy would become void in three weeks of a certain date. Just like that. It was a shock, and my first notion was to call the company and just explain and everything would be O.K. But then I started talking to people and have decided to change to another company. State Farm carries a great name, but the people aren’t always the most courteous, and your agent is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with after "office hours" (9-5). I truly regreted going against the grain with my family tradition, but I finally wised up. I guess all those college classes do pay off.

18 June 2008I first purchased GEICO Car Insurance twenty years ago when I graduated from college. I am a member of the American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE) and one of the promotions that ASCE was pushing was Car Insurance with GEICO and an associated discount because you were a member. To this day I still am a member of ASCE and I still have GEICO as my insurer. I first purchased GEICO when I was living in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I had grown up on AAA Insurance but was willing to shop around. Since that time I’ve moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and to St. Louis, Missouri. I’ve shopped around on a periodic basis and I’ve never been able to find anyone who can beat GEICO’s price or for that matter convenience. You can call GEICO any time day or night, 24 hours a day and you will get first class service every time. I’ve been in car dealerships and called GEICO to get quotes to help me make a decision on the purchase of vehicles. Recently, I’ve had to comparison shop because I have two teenage boys who are now driving. In all cases nobody has come close to their cost. I must say, GEICO isn’t for everyone. If you feel you have to touch and feel the agent you are dealing with for insurance then forget it. Unless you specifically request it you will get a different person on the line every time you call. Depending on when you call, you may get routed to different cities. If this bothers you then don’t call GEICO. My wife and I also have had good driving records which, GEICO prefers. My two sons also have been honor role students, something for which GEICO gives discounts. In the twenty years I’ve been insured by GEICO I’ve made 4 or 5 claims, one for a major accident which was the fault of a teenage driver in my lane, the other for a tree falling on my truck, and a couple of windshield rock incidents. For each occurrence, claims were fast, timely and cooperative. No problems were encountered at all.
