Excellent Auto Insurance - Erie - Auto

19 August 2008

Erie amazes me. The knock the socks off the competition for low cost auto insurance and superb customer service by their agents.

I always diligently shop around for insurance. Simply said, no one came remotely close to Erie. What’s more, Erie offers such high coverage limits for such low prices. For example, a policy with 100K/300K liability limits will likely be just as cheap as GEICO’s basic $20K/40K coverage.

They Treat You Like A Paying Customer - AMICA - Auto

Updates

Just as I predicted, my rates went up at renewal due to insurance fraud in NY.

——————————————————-

When it was time for me to insure an automobile, an automobile that was for the very first time registered in my very own name, I didn’t want to use my parent’s insurance company because I prefer to waste a lot of energy finding the best value for my dollar. Some would say that’s practical, others would say that’s just darned cheap. I really don’t care what you call it, because that “I’ve been screwed by a major corporation” feeling doesn’t leave me all warm and fuzzy.

Why Don’t Agents Have to Stick To the Given Quote? - Nationwide - Auto

13 August 2008

My twenty year old daughter has just purchased her first car. I was very proud of the fact that she was shopping for a reasonable car, and she enlisted the help of my father. Since he was going to co-sign for her, it was important that he approve what she was purchasing.

They finally settled on a 1998 Ford Escort Sport, but she was also looking at a 1997 Ford Probe. We knew that the insurance on the Probe would be higher than the Escort since it was classed as a sports car.

Homeowners Insurance through the ERIE Insurance Group - Erie - Home

14 July 2008

I have been an ERIE Insurance customer for almost 3 years now. My husband had his auto insurance policy through ERIE many years ago and seemed pleased, so when we purchased our home, we called ERIE for a quote. I don’t seem to remember whom we compared them with (approximately 3 other companies) but ERIE offered the best coverage at the lowest price.

Since ERIE’s homeowner’s insurance products are available only through local independent agents representing ERIE, we got in touch with a local agent and received our quote immediately over the phone. Our agent, Ron Nanosky, came out to our home to get our policy in order. Not only was I impressed with the professionalism, but the convenience as well.

Arbella Renter’s Insurance through Vellucci Insurance Agency Cambridge, MA - Arbella Mutual

8 July 2008

I signed up for Renter’s Insurance with Arbella through Vellucci Insurance Agency in Cambridge, MA. I had insurance through them for about two years. When my policy was about to expire, they sent me the policy for the upcoming year and the premium for the same coverage had more than doubled. There were no prior claims, and none of the coverages had changed. I also noticed that they had incorrect information about the year my home was built. I never gave them this information, so I decided to call and find out why the incorrect information was added, and the rate had doubled.

Don’t mind the Farm Bureau - Country Mutual

7 July 2008

There’s an interesting story about why I have Country Mutual insurance for my car.

I used to have a small town insurance company (Pekin) in Illinois, and I left my car parked next to my apartment over a weekend while I went out of town. While I was gone, the attic of the house next door burned. When I returned, most of the house was gone, my car was inside a yellow taped fire line, and there was chunks of the asphalt shingles all over my car. It scratched the heck out of my paint. My insurance challenged the insurer of the house, Country Mutual, and Country Mutual wouldn’t pay. My insurance rolled over and gave up, forcing me to pay my $500 deductible. Soon thereafter, I found out that not only was Country Mutual more of a "winning" insurance agency :-), but also they were about 25% cheaper.

Great, until you get into an accident - GEICO Direct

30 June 2008

I got into an accident two weeks ago as a result of being hit by a driver who had lost control of his vehicle. Since I have no rental insurance on my policy, I was without transportation due to the fact that the accident caused major damage to my truck. I attempted to get the insurance information of the other driver (which I could not get at the time of the accident since the other driver was taken away by an ambulance), but for days afterward the police had yet to get his information in their records. I called Geico for advice - I had not been in this situation before and was looking for information.

Unfortunately, no one I spoke with was willing to help me. I was told that the information of the other driver is not something Geico needs to know (I live in a no-fault state) and that they would not help me find it for my own records. Three days later (still with no transportation) I found out the other drivers name on my own and got his information in the local phone book.

Being unsure if it was considered appropriate for me to call him myself to find out his insurance information, I called Geico to seek advice. Again I was told that the other driver’s information was of no use to Geico. I could not get a straight answer for the simplest of questions.

I got the advice I needed from another insurance agency (Allstate, if you’re curious). They were very helpful on any questions I had. It bothers me that I’m not a client of theirs and they were more helpful in one phone call than in three days of trying to deal with Geico.

I called the other driver and was amazed to find out that his insurance company was also Geico. When I called Geico again and gave the other driver’s policy number I finally was allowed a rental car. When I asked why I wasn’t given the rental when it was first requested the customer service rep told me that I should have given Geico the other driver’s information right away. That is exactly what I was attempting to do, though no one at Geico was willing to help.

My fiancé is currently in the military. His regular address is in Maine. I live in New Hampshire and have been put on the policy since I will be keeping his car with me until he comes back. All contact about the policy should be handled by me until that time. When I was first put on the policy my fiancé called and explained the situation and gave my address and phone number. Yet still every time I have had to call Geico (and that is numerous times in the past week) I have to explain the situation to each representative and give all my information over again.

I wrote an email (since speaking to customer service on the phone was going nowhere) and asked why this whole situation has been so difficult. Today I received a phone call by a representative in response to my letter telling me that she had found out that the other driver was also covered by Geico and she was ready to set up my rental car. Not only was I bothered by this because, again, their records are obviously not well kept, but because, had I not taken matters into my own hands and called the other driver myself, I would have been without transportation for two weeks.

I find this all extremely unacceptable and will be switching to another company as soon as my policy expires. Paying a bit less per year is not worth the trouble of dealing with such an unorganized and unhelpful company.

Cheaper Insurance Rates Then The Bigger Companies - GEICO Direct

23 June 2008

I have had GEICO car insurance now for 4 years since moving to Palm Beach County, Florida. I own 2 cars, one is a 1992 pickup and the other is a 1989 4 door economy car. Used to have Nationwide car insurance and when I moved to Palm Beach County the rates jumped by $250.00 for both automobiles. So, I looked and shopped around for other car insurance companies and came across GEICO. Not only did I get the same coverage from GEICO car insurance that I got from Nationwide insurance, but with all the safety feature discounts and all from GEICO I saved a bundle. They make the sign up process for their car insurance over the phone which makes it easy and fast. So, no waiting at an insurance agency if it is busy. You can apply for insurance anytime during the day which is helpful for most people on schedules with work and all. I found GEICO to be much cheaper for the same coverage than the larger insurance companies are and when you call them asking questions you are able to get them answered faster as well.

Just Plane Wrong - Allstate - Auto

16 June 2008

Okay, we all hate insurance companies, but in some cases we are able to hate some more than others. One of those companies that we are allowed to hate is Allstate. They are the most ruthless company and they take your money for nothing. They also make it impossible for you to switch to another company.
