Why Don’t Agents Have to Stick To the Given Quote? - Nationwide - Auto

13 August 2008

My twenty year old daughter has just purchased her first car. I was very proud of the fact that she was shopping for a reasonable car, and she enlisted the help of my father. Since he was going to co-sign for her, it was important that he approve what she was purchasing.

They finally settled on a 1998 Ford Escort Sport, but she was also looking at a 1997 Ford Probe. We knew that the insurance on the Probe would be higher than the Escort since it was classed as a sports car.

It does make a difference - Allstate - Auto

2 August 2008

Insurance is one of those thing you just cant live without (how some do I dont know). Allstate has been my company of choice for over 4 years now, with no complaints from me.

I live in a "high-risk" zip-code (since that’s how all insurance is determined these days) and the state itself is known for high insurance rate, but every year I check out the other companies (just for shits and grins) on a weekend, and guess what…so far for the last 4+ years I havn’t been able to find anyone who comes close to Allstates rates.

Not so great customer service, not so great on rates either - Farm Bureau Mutual

27 July 2008

I have had auto insurance through this company since age 16. In the twelve years they had my policy, I never once talked to my actual agent. I had to file two claims and neither time did I ever speak to the agent. I only talked to the woman who answered the phone…she took all my information.

Recently, I bought a home owner’s policy through this company. I did not shop around, which was a mistake on my part. I had to change my address for my auto policy. My premium went up over two hundred dollars! When I asked for an explanation, I was told “that’s just the way it is”. I called the following day after getting insurance quotes from other agencies. I was astonished when I discovered I could get more coverage for less! I was even more astonished when I spoke to the actual insurance agents, not their receptionists!

I consider myself to be a highly educated individual although, will admit, I know little about insurance. I decided to call Farm Bureau back to get an explanation on the HUGE increase in premium. I spoke to the receptionist who, this time, said “Well, it’s because of where you live…that’s just how it is”. I told her I had been shopping around for other quotes and asked if they did any sort of “matching”. She rudely snapped at me and said “That’s now how insurance works…your premium is what we decide and that’s what you’ll pay”. I was shocked. I understand my question might have been “stupid” but she could have spoken in a kinder tone to me.

I have not had any claims in five years, never had a ticket, always paid on time. Never once in my experience with FB did my agent sit down with me and explain the details of either policy (home owner’s or auto). The only “comunication” I recieved were statements when my premiums or annual dues were due.

I have recently switched my auto to another company. I was impressed that when I called this agent on his cell that he answered it in the check-out line of a Sam’s. He drove 45 minutes to my office so I could meet him and sign one paper. He explained the ins and outs of the policies to me and did not pressure me.

They even replace seatbelts chewed by dogs. - Farmers Insurance - Auto

24 July 2008

Farmers was a major surprise for me. They have even gone as far as paying to have four seat belts replaced that my dog chewed up without any hassle and no premium change. This is more than I can say about the Ford repair shop. They were a constant problem until the job got finished. Farmers did not give me any hassle even though you can only get seat belts replaced at the dealership, which means it is more expensive for them.

7 year relationship - Nationwide - Auto

15 July 2008

I am on my 7th year with the relationship I have with my Nationwide insurance provider and I couldn’t be happier. I have both of my cars and my house insured with Nationwide have received the best rates of anyone I compare against. My insurance agents also give me the personal touch that most companies do not provide. They see me in public and speak remembering my name and when I walk into the office, which is very rare, they always know who I am and carry on intelligent conversation…more than just nice weather talk. They also have perks that other insurance companies do not have. The one big perk I like is that after 5 years with them, without an accident, you get a free accident. This means that if you have an accident, it will not effect your insurance rates. That is so awesome and such a powerful pull for me to continue my business with Nationwide. I also love the automatic monthly deductiosn instead of dealing writing checks or having to pay my insurance quarterly. Overall, I give them total thumbs up!!!!

Do you know your insurance agents name? - State Farm Group - Auto

15 July 2008

Is he or she just someone you write a check to but never speak to? When you walk into their office can they say “Hi_____, how”s your husband _______? (Fill in the blanks) If not, then you”re dealing with the wrong people.

I have State Farm. When I walk in they know my name, my kids names, and my husbands name. They know where I live without me telling them. I couldn”t ask for more personal service. I highly recommend them to anyone. Their personal service has been the best to us and our loved ones who use their service.

USAA - I love this company! - USAA Group - Auto

12 July 2008

Do you think anyone can actually “love” an insurance company? Though it sounds crazy, I do. USAA is the best. I’ve been a member for over 8 years and I use them for my Auto (and renter’s) Insurance. I’ve never had any problems with this company.

A Love/Hate Relationship - State Farm Group - Auto

10 July 2008

I have been with State Farm almost exclusively for about 7 years now. I have used both their auto insurance coverages and their renter’s insurance. I have had some good experiences with them as well as bad.

Good

State Farm has always given me pretty good rates for Auto Insurance. Recently, for example, I was paying about $64/mo for full coverage on a ‘96 vehicle. Other companies I called were quoting about $100/month for the same coverage. When I had renter’s insurance it only cost about $15/month which was reasonable to insure all your personal belongings in your home.

Worst Customer Service Ever - GEICO Direct

1 July 2008

When I originally signed on with Geico I thought they were great because their rates were so much lower than other insurance companies. Everything was smooth sailing until I had an accident and had to deal with their claims department. That was when the nightmare began.

believe in yourself - Progressive Group - Auto

28 June 2008

I had a not-at-fault accident a few months ago and needed progressive to settle my repair for me with the other insurance company and body shop. Progressive response time was fast, agent was polite, I had no complaints about the customer service, etc. But here comes the nightmare: Theres a body shop in town that I wanted to use. However, my agent persuaded me to use one of their “networked partners” in town. He told me that their partners do excellent jobs and the whole repair process will be “THAT MUCH” easier so I figured sure why not. (I just heard from a friend today that insurance companies are not allowed to persuade or even hint their clients to use their networked service… so beware!). Knowing that this networked partner is actually affiliated with a local BMW dealer, I thought I would be fine in their hands. But that was when the nightmare began:
