17 August 2008In the beginning, AIG was a lifesaver. After thorough review of competitor pricing, along with advantages, and disadvantages, I went with AIG to get the most bang for my buck. The fact that I was able to set up automatic debit from my checking account was a big plus, and their low quote was an excellent value. I live in Las Vegas, NV which is known for high auto insurance, terrible driving conditions, accidents, and personal injury attorneys on every corner. I have never been involved in an accident that I was at fault for in my life, but I was very surprised when I received a renewal letter stating that my policy would go up in price. There was no reason given for this.

Unfortunately most people do not have a choice in which healthcare insurance they have. You usually are stuck with what your company has to offer. This is my second bout with Cigna Insurance and it is not getting any better. The policy we currently have is a PPO which includes a $50.00 copay for ER visits, $10.00 copay for doctor visits and either $7.00 or $15.00 for prescription drugs. I will state in their defense that their benefits are good when/if they are ever paid. Getting a claim paid however, is a long and exhausting process.

26 July 2008When doing our insurance shopping 2 years ago, we decided we were fed up with the high rates we were being charged by State Farm and decided to look around at other insurance carriers.
The best quote for insurance we received was from Geico, and so I then started asking friends and family if they had used them and if they were satisfied with their insurance.
No one could really tell me anything bad, so we decided to give them a spin.

Liberty Mutual has been our Auto Insurance Carrier for about 15 years now. We also have them for our Homeowners Insurance as well.
We have 2 cars, a Saturn and a Lincoln Aviator. Our yearly insurance cost is $1617 for the two cars combined. We receive the following discounts from Liberty:

14 July 2008As a shopper for the best deal on auto insurance, I decided to give Progressive a call because my current policy was up for renewal. I was fairly confident I fell within a good rating category so I gave them a call.
I had all my current information out and handy, VIN #, drivers license, current account info, and any other key information. To my surprise, Progressive actually came back with a quote just under what I was currently paying, though only achieving this by the automatic monthly EIP payment plan. No problem though, as I try to get as many of my bills paid automatically and electronically.

Bubba came down with “something”- and I put that in quotes bcause not even the vet knew what it was he had. He was even quarantined, as in they put him away in this small closet sized room away from other animals in case he was contagious.
I almost lost him in 24 hours. He was throwing up all night. I, being stupid fugured he would be okay by morning, and he just ate something that turned his stomach.
By morning however he was almost dead when I woke up. I had rushed him to Riverheads 24 hour emergency veternarian.
14 days in the hospital. It was as if the vets had performed a miracle. His eyes were glazed when I brought him in. Looking ready to die. However, and thank the heavens, somehow Bubba made it. I thank the vet still to this day.

New Jersey Manufacturers is one of the good things about moving to New Jersey (and there are several others - New Jersey really gets an undeserved bad rep). Besides saving me a ton of cash - I’m completely serious about the half business, I have always found their customer service people to be 1)Nice, 2)Helpful and 3)There.
