23 July 2008When I was first looking for car insurance, my parents wanted me to go through their company. They had used American National for years, and had been very happy with the results, so of course they urged me to use the same company. When I got my car, I wanted to have insurance put on to it right away. I didn’t want to have to wait for an approval, I didn’t want to have to wait for the information to come to me in the mail, and I wanted it to all go very painless from start to finish. Well when I called them, I had to give a lot of information, and then I was told that I would need to call back in 3-5 days to have an official quote and to start up my insurance coverage. This wasn’t at all what I was hoping for, because I wanted to be on the road quickly, and I didn’t want to wait around for them. To top it off, they came in with a quote that was much more expensive than I had originally anticipated. This is when I decided to look into GEICO Direct Insurance.

14 July 2008I have been an ERIE Insurance customer for almost 3 years now. My husband had his auto insurance policy through ERIE many years ago and seemed pleased, so when we purchased our home, we called ERIE for a quote. I don’t seem to remember whom we compared them with (approximately 3 other companies) but ERIE offered the best coverage at the lowest price.
Since ERIE’s homeowner’s insurance products are available only through local independent agents representing ERIE, we got in touch with a local agent and received our quote immediately over the phone. Our agent, Ron Nanosky, came out to our home to get our policy in order. Not only was I impressed with the professionalism, but the convenience as well.

The point of my article is that GEICO took all that worry about money away. My article is embracing the fact that there’s still a company who treats clients with respect and empathy. The costs are low, by the way. You must have an excellent driving record and after that, depending on the type of car, mileage driven, make and model of car(s), all make quotes rather difficult for me to report.)

As an ex-insurance claims person, I know what my policy says…and I have been able to trust the people at State Farm when I DID have a question regarding being covered in different situations. This time, they deny we are covered, and they TOLD us we were!
We own a large business, and delivery is part of that business. Our delivery truck had a problem, so I called our State Farm Insurance Company and asked if we would be covered in a Ryder truck for delivery, as we had no other way to get our deliveries right out. I was told we were, and not to bother with any other insurance.
Our delivery man bumped into a person’s car bumper and did all the right things when an accident does occur. No one was hurt, thank goodness! My husband called in the accident to the State Farm office, only to be told that ‘Ryders’ are not covered by your insurance! Balogna! We had made very sure that we WERE covered, before using this truck! Right now, it is up in the air, as to whether we will be covered, but, with my background in Claims, I am quite certain we WILL be covered, or I will take them to court.
This is a warning to anyone who may find themselves in need of a rental and who has their own auto insurance.
Do have the insurance people send you a fax, or some written form of assurance that you ARE covered. I thought my husband had done that, but, he had not.
The Ryder is under 12,000 pound capacity, and it was empty at the time, at any rate. We were assured we had the coverage, yet, we had NONE according to the State Farm Claims Dept., now that we have had an accident!
Be safe…………get it in writing! I am very disappointed in this firm, at this point!

9 June 2008After a business degree and an MBA, I always figured that I would build my assets outside of insurance policy and I would provide for my untimely death (if it had happened) through term insurance.
There are two basic types of life insurance. Whole life has an investment component in addition to the death benefit component. Whole life policies have fixed premiums. They do provide a nice buildup of emergency money for those who are not able to save and invest elsewhere. Term insurance has only the death benefit component. It is quite inexpensive when the policyholder is young and healthy, and more expensive as the policyholder ages and becomes infirm.

Not only is it smart for you to have the insurance for motorcycles but you have to have it because it is against the law not to have it. You can’t escape getting motorcycle insurance no matter how you feel about it.

31 October 2007i recently renewed my car insurance and stated ive made no claims in last 5 years but 3 years ago i made a claim on motorcycle insurance when my bike was stolen - should I have put this on my car insurance?
Yes, it is a vehicle claim. If you fail to note it they could claim later your insurance is invalid.
