They are out to SCREW you! - Allstate - Auto

31 August 2008

They are out to SCREW you! And they don’t even want to buy you dinner first. How rude!

I’ll admit I’m the poster girl for high insurance rates. I live in a state that is known for having high insurance rates. I got my license after college and so I’m still considered a new driver (You need 3yrs to be outta that range). And I have a new car (less than a year old). But I have no points, not as much as a parking ticket and I figured that would count for something (I can dream).

Good auto rates, great claims service, but customer service speed bumps on policy purchase - GEICO Direct

30 August 2008

In 2003, husband and I switched our car insurance to GEICO due to the great rates they offered (30% savings off our old, really good rate).

Good stuff:

It was remarkably easy to get a quote online. Their online car insurance quote engine is simple and straightforward. I was able to pay by credit card right away. It was very very easy to open the policy. You can even make changes to your policy on the web, and pay any differences in premium right there. I never had to talk to a human to get the policy written, except they called to follow up on a glass claim I had made a year ago.

Refused to uphold Quote! - Allstate - Auto

27 August 2008

When my insurance renewal time came around this year, I looked around for quotes. Mostly using the internet and worthy quote sites, I came across many different quotes at a wide variety of prices.

Allstate was the best rate available with a company that has a local office in my town, so I went to them for my insurance.

I was in contact with the agent through e-mail. I gave him all of my phone numbers, yet he never once called me. When I did call him to catch up on how the process was working he talked me through some different options and had even lowered the original quote of $525 down to “probably $475″ since in his opinion, someone with as few assets as myself, wouldn’t need such excessive coverage.

I do not recommend this car insurance. - Prudential - Auto

16 August 2008

Let me start this by telling you a little story. My boyfriend had his auto insurance through Prudential and paid his premiums like everybody else. He also trusted that when and if he needed them to come through, they would be there and be reliable. WRONG. First off, when I went to pay my auto insurance premium with State Farm, we had them quote him on insurance. They came up with better insurance and a premium that was HALF what he was paying prudential.

Comparison shopping….for Insurance - InsureRate

16 August 2008

InsureRate.com offers consumers the ability to comparison shop for all types of insurance, including health, life, auto, homeowner, and even Pet insurance.

What I like most about this site is that it offers a comprehensive list of companies and provides instant quotes for most of the insurance companies, as well as the ability to apply for insurance online.

Also, InsureRate.com is partnered with various carriers and companies including EhealthInsurance.com, and Progressive Insurance Online, which allows you to receive an instant quote and apply online which is very convenient. And although the site is great if you’re looking for comparison rates (for insurance), I was already familiar with eHealthInsurance.com, which provides the health insurance quotes and info (so that wasn’t a big help).

Why Don’t Agents Have to Stick To the Given Quote? - Nationwide - Auto

13 August 2008

My twenty year old daughter has just purchased her first car. I was very proud of the fact that she was shopping for a reasonable car, and she enlisted the help of my father. Since he was going to co-sign for her, it was important that he approve what she was purchasing.

They finally settled on a 1998 Ford Escort Sport, but she was also looking at a 1997 Ford Probe. We knew that the insurance on the Probe would be higher than the Escort since it was classed as a sports car.

5 Years with GEICO - GEICO Direct

11 August 2008

The one bad review I read here sounds like an administrative screw-up to me. I once had a "misquote" experience with National and figure that occasionally happens with all insurance companies.

Having said that I should state that I have had no problems with GEICO during the past five years. My car was once vandalized and quickly settled. GEICO rates literally can’t be beat in my case. I sent an insurance quote request to every insurer for my area and did not find anything remotely close to their rates. Their 24-hour service desk is also helpful for those of us without free time during normal business hours.

The more things you have insured…the cheaper they are - State Farm Group - Auto

3 August 2008

My husband and I have had State Farm auto insurance on at least one vehicle for the whole 8 year of our marriage.

When we were ready to add a second vehicle, we called and shopped around for rates. Because of our A+ rating, they could not be beat for identical coverage.

We were building our house and had to get insurance on it. I once again called around and though I would one place that was cheaper for homeowners, State Farm gave us a multi-line discount which lowered out auto coverage premiums a total of $102 a year. That doubled out savings of going with the other company.

Great Policy rates? - Farmers Insurance - Auto

31 July 2008

Since there’s not a category for mobile home insurance or mobile homes listed this is the closest I can find. Last year we purchased a new single wide mobile home. We knew that living on the coast would make our insurance higher than other places but not this high! I contacted Farmer’s Insurance in Oct ‘99 about getting a policy from them. WOW they had a great policy but with our busy lives I forgot to follow through. Now I WISH I had! They have changed their policy writing procedures and of course they can’t find our quote and we’re going to be stuck paying $1500 a year for insurance. AND this policy isn’t anywhere near as good as the one they quoted me. It does beat the $2200 cost of our existing policy.
