January of 1997, I was involved in a 23 car pile up. Michigan is a "no fault" state, and no tickets were issued. I hat some black ice, hit the northbound guard rail, and ricocheted into the median. Cars slid everywhere. It was a very scary situation.
I was confident that Allstate would take care of me. I was devistated that the company did not total my car. Instead, the company sent the vehicle to one of their "shops" and I was inconvienced for two months! No rental car, I still had to pay on the loan, and the vehicle’s coverage while it was in the shop. Allstate says that they guarantee their work, but when I tried to get them to make changes or to redo the work, it was like pulling teeth. Finally, they just wrote me a check of #$295.00 to get me out of their hair! And I did. After 23 years of giving them business, not to mention the business that my family and friends have given them, I moved on to another cheaper company. At least I know I am getting what I pay for at a cheaper rate. It has been my experience that paying for the big name has only gotten me low rated service. When I tried to contact their corporation to complain, I received no response. I was just a number to them.
