Prudential will drop you in a heartbeat if you have a wreck despite who is at fault. My father used to work for the Prudential company and he changed all of the cars, house, and the sailboat to Prudential. At the time my parents owned my vehicle when it was switched over.
Unfortunately I have had several problems with this company. The first episode happened to me personally. I was at school and someone ran me off the interstate but didn’t stop. As traumatic as this was for me the insurance company questioned me. Like I was going to try to rip them off. Haven’t they seen the car? There wasn’t much left to it. Weeks passed by and finally my dad demanded that the adjuster come to Auburn. (That is where I had my accident.) Finally two weeks passed and the adjuster finally saw the car. Another three weeks passed and still no check. Ford Motor Company was getting uptight because they still owned a good part of the vehicle. I don’t blame them.
Five weeks later Prudential sent me the check for the car. Why did it take Five weeks? No one knows exactly. I was given several stories but I think the best one was that the adjuster couldn’t find the car. Now I know that isn’t true.
This is where Prudential really makes my blood boil. My father started to work with another insurance company because there just wasn’t any money in Prudential. Seems like after Hurricane Andrew demolished Florida Prudential started having some problems. Even though my dad worked for another insurance company he still left all of the insurance with the company. In 1998 my mom fell asleep at the wheel of their Volvo and totaled the car out. Now I know this was her fault but besides this wreck she had a clean record. Not even a speeding ticket!
The next downfall came about four months later. My dad was on his way to work and he stopped at the gas station to get some gas. While my dad’s car was parked a lady in her Tahoe backed up into the front of the car. It did minor damage and her insurance paid for the repairs. No, problem you think? Guess again! Prudential counted this wreck against my parents and it went on their record.
The downfall of all downfalls! We buy insurance for protection. So why should other people drive around without insurance and we end up paying the price. If you think it won’t happen to you then think again. My parents never thought it would happen to them but it did. Six months later my dad was driving to work. The light turned red so he stopped. Isn’t that what you are supposed to do on a red light? This teenager was speeding and didn’t see my father’s car in front of him. Now let me remind the light is still red. He plowed into my dad’s vehicle and total the car out. I couldn’t believe the pictures. The sad thing is that he didn’t have insurance so my dad’s insurance had to pay for the damage. A week later my parents got a notice saying that their insurance was being canceled. To me this seems very unfair. You have insurance for this reason. That is why we pay the high prices. Then when you have to use the insurance the insurance company cancels your policies.
Would I recommend this company? After seeing how my parents were treated I wouldn’t recommend Prudential to my worst enemy. I don’t know anything about their online website because I have never used it.
