I would rather talk to the Gecko in the commercial than the reps on the phone. Last summer I started a policy with Geico Direct. That was a costly mistake.
I sent them the money to start my policy and I was to be mailed all of the information concerning it. Guess what? That information never came in the mail. So a month rolls by and I say to myself “better call Geico, it’s been a while and I should be getting something.” So I pick up the phone and call them and I tell them that I haven’t received my policy or a bill and I wanted to know what was going on! They told me it would be in the mail and that this time I should get it within a week.
A week goes by and nothing. So I call them up again and am shuffled around a bit and left on hold for about 10 minutes and finally someone tells me that I should just wait a while longer. So I ask them to fax me a copy of the policy at least, guess what? The fax was pretty useless, it wasn’t even legible.
So two more weeks go by and I call them up again. Same story, should be in the mail, should get it soon. The funny thing is that nobody ever bothered to confirm my address, silly them(note my sarcasm). So now it’s three months later and I have nothing, don’t know what is going on and I’m of course pretty fed up.
I call up Geico again and ask to speak to a supervisor after being told the policy was “canceled.” I told the woman that I never received anything and it wasn’t my fault. So she proceeded to verify my address and it was incorrect. She told me that my policy would be renewed and I could start over since it was their mistake. That means we were driving around uninsured without even knowing it. I have a telephone and an answering machine, it would have been nice if they had just called to see why they had not received a payment. Then my address could have been verified.
The problem was that simple but again, need I say it, guess what? I never received a darned thing. I called them, they had canceled my policy once again but this time they asked me for more money! So I just gave up. Somebody at Geico Direct isn’t doing their job, if anyone is doing their job at all!
If it’s so difficult for Geico to just send me a policy I don’t even want to think what filing a claim would be like. Regardless, they ripped me off.
I do not trust Geico Direct nor would I recommend them to anyone. Just watching their commercials infuriates me. Like I said “Let me speak to the Gecko please…”
