I recently renewed my GEICO policy and thought to myself, why GEICO? The answers I came up with were pretty simple.
First, GEICO was the cheapest nationally known auto insurer. Important to me because that means they have a "name" and are not just a fly by night organization.
Secondly, the customer service is very good. I have never had a long wait or been put been on hold for what seems like forever. In addition, though going to KMart to have a new purchase photographed is not the most convenient thing in the world, it could be worse. I take the position of Kmart is virtually everywhere and the process is very fast. Therefore, it is relatively harmless.
Thirdly, GEICO does not badger you for claims. The claims are simple and do not involve a million steps or countless contact with the company.
Finally, one of the major shareholders is Warren Buffet. A positive for the simple reason that you never have to worry about the company going under due to catastrophic claims/damages.
I would suggest shopping around and comparing rates, but I think you will find that GEICo is the best in all areas of auto insurance.
