I was insured with Geico for about four years. My husband is in the military and they offered the cheapest rates in the new city we were transferred to (Corpus Christi, Tx). At the time, only my husband and myself were driving — both of us with perfect driving records and NO accidents. Yet, every six months, like clockwork — our rates would be raised. They always made sure it wasn’t for TOO much — $25 here or $50 there per six months, but it ALWAYS went up. Finally, when I was paying nearly $300 more per six months than I ORIGINALLY had started with, I called Geico and asked them why? The answer I got was less than satisfying. The customer service agent told me that since there was a large percentage of uninsured drivers in our area, that our rates had to be raised in order to pay for the damage those uninsured drivers cause when they have an accident. When I pointed out that we not had an accident, ticket, or claim in four years and that we should be rewarded for our good driving instead of penalized, the agent said she agreed, but that was just the way it was. I also found it suspicious that the rate of uninsured drivers had not risen by much during that four years, but our insurance rates were raised by over 30%!
I think not! I immediately called and found insurance with another company (for less money). Now, when we move (which we do frequently) I will not even consider Geico. Punishing your best customers is not an appropriate way to run a business. Geico has lost me for a customer forever.
